Who we are

We make stories for the people who never quite fit the frame.

Media Misfits is an independent film and television company built around unconventional voices, uncomfortable truths and stories that refuse the predictable version.

We develop features, series and shorts in-house, with a focus on outsiders, rebels, social injustice, identity and resilience. The goal is simple: make work that entertains first, then stays with you after the credits.

Our productions are designed to be ambitious on screen and disciplined behind it — focused casts, achievable locations, experienced collaborators and resources placed where audiences can feel them.

The slate

A contained feature built on performance, tension and atmosphere. The short film Gush was produced as its proof of concept.

Kyle McNamara

Born in Boulder, Colorado, Kyle is an award-winning screenwriter and actor whose work spans feature films, television, novels and independent production. He writes toward social injustice and underrepresented experience, and he doesn’t soften the hard parts.

He recently cast Glenn Close in one of his scripts. He wrote and is producing Intrusive.

Laura Tornga

Laura is a Los Angeles producer who has made 12 live-action shorts across narrative, music video and branded work, often stepping in as director or director of photography.

She is earning her Master’s in Entertainment Leadership and Management at LMU’s School of Film and Television, where she is Festival Director of The Innovator’s Film Festival, an international event for filmmakers working with generative AI.

Before film she ran international business development for video ad-serving platforms at New York tech startups. That background in global media strategy shapes how she produces: creative vision with operational precision.
